Nothing diminishes the appearance of a shiny car like a pair of rusty tire rims. It is imperative to remove rust stains as soon as possible to prevent it from spreading and eating the entire chrome rim. While there are numerous rust removers on the market, they tend to be expensive and can be toxic. Homemade rust removal methods work just as well as any store-bought cleaner, without the expensive price tag.
Things You’ll Need
- 4 cups white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- Small basin
- Several sheets of aluminum foil
- Garden hose
- Clean soft towel

Tips & Warnings
- If the rust stains are severe, you can use fine grade steel wool as a substitute for the aluminum foil.
- Coca Cola can be used as a substitute for vinegar, but keep in mind that using Coca Cola will require intense rinsing to remove any soda residue.
