Car repair and maintenance articles

Removing wheels on a vehicle for the most part is quite simple: remove the lug nuts and pull the wheels off. Unfortunately, what is designed to be simple doesn’t always work to the owner’s advantage, especially with car thieves running around looking for prized rims. American Racing Wheels helps customers avoid such a scenario by provide lug nuts that will be harder to thieves to remove and gain access the the wheels. They do this by crafting a special lug nut and a key that’s required to remove those lug nuts.

Things You’ll Need

  • Two wooden blocks
  • Car jack
  • Tire iron
  • American Racing Wheel key
  • Place a block of wood behind and in front of one of the tire on your vehicle, on the opposite side from where you will jack your vehicle to prevent it from rolling.

  • Jack your car just behind the wheel you want to removewith your car jack. Insert your American Racing Wheel key into the lung nut you want to remove and turn the key until it locks into place.

  • Place your tire iron into the hex shape of the key and twist to the left until you remove the lug nut. Repeat this process to remove all lug nuts, then pull the wheel off the car with caution.

  • Repeat the above steps for the remaining wheels on the vehicle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always carry your key with you in the event you have a flat tire, but be cautious where you store it. Thieves will anticipate you carry the key. Do not put it in your glove both, under the seat of in the center console. Instead lock it in the truck with the spare tire for example.
