Glue on your windscreen, whether it’s school glue or a type of super glue, creates a stain magnet on your glass. In addition to attracting dirt, the glue stain can also distract you while you’re driving or obstruct your view. Removing glue from your windscreen isn’t difficult and can be done with the use of supplies found around the home. Even though the removal process is simple, care should be taken in order to avoid damaging the surface.
Things You’ll Need
- Nail polish remover
- Clean cloths
- Plastic scraper
- Bucket
- Dish soap
- Glass cleaner

Wet a clean cloth with nail polish remover. Gently rub the nail polish remover over the glue stain to loosen the glue by breaking its bond with the glass surface.

Lift the softened glue from your windscreen by gently scraping it with a plastic scraper. Alternately, repeat the application of nail polish remover with scraping up the glue until you’re unable to remove any more glue.

Fill a bucket with hot tap water and a few drops of dish soap. Soak a clean cloth in the soapy solution. Lay the cloth over the remaining glue residue on your windscreen and leave it there for 10 to 20 minutes to remove the remaining glue.

Scrub the glue with the wet, soapy towel. Rinse with plain water and dry with a clean cloth.

Spray glass cleaner on your windscreen surface and wipe to remove soap residue.
Tips & Warnings
- Use acetone to remove stubborn super glue but protect your skin and eyes with safety goggles and gloves.
- Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners or sandpaper to remove glue from glass as you can scratch the glass.
