How to Use Krazy Glue to Repair a Windshield

Cracks appear in car windshields for many reasons. Loose gravel, rocks and hail all have the potential to cause damage to glass. Left unattended, a small crack in your car’s windshield can spread throughout the glass. Eventually, the entire windshield may need to be replaced. If the crack is tended to promptly, however, it can be stopped from spreading. Windshield cracks can be temporarily fixed by applying a tube of Krazy Glue to the affected area.

Things You’ll Need

  • Soap and water
  • Glass cleaner
  • Scissors
  • Krazy Glue
  • Glue remover
  • Cotton swabs
  • Use a wet, soapy cloth to clean the inside and outside of the windshield. Press a leather chamois into the windshield’s corners to remove any built-up dirt. Spray glass cleaner onto the windshield and wipe it away with paper towels to remove grease.

  • Cut off the tip of the Krazy Glue tube. Squeeze the tube to apply a small amount of glue onto the cracked area on the inside of the windshield. Apply the glue in a downward motion, from the top of the crack to the bottom. Continue gently squeezing the tube as you apply the glue.

  • Rub a cotton swab around the crack to spread the glue around. Exit the vehicle, and repeat this procedure on the outside of the windshield.

  • Let the glue dry and use glue remover to get rid of any glue that has gotten on your hands or other parts of the car.

Tips & Warnings

  • Applying Krazy Glue to a crack only stops the crack from spreading temporarily.
