The heated oxygen sensor on a 1994 Ford E-150 with the 4.9-liter engine was a critical part of the vehicle’s emission and fuel injection systems.   • The heated oxygen sensor was an electronic component mounted directly into the vehicle’s exhaust system to monitor the engines air-to-fuel ratio. The 1994 Ford E-150 with the 4.9-liter engine was still utilizing on-board diagnostics 1 technology, so it was only equipped with one heated oxygen sensor. This sensor is located at the lower right side of the engine on the exhaust manifold, before or upstream of the catalytic converter.
